COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS WELCOMES ANTOINE ATINKPAHOUN - CHAIRMAN OF THE BENIN DIASPORA, USA TO MOBILE JUNETEENTH WEEK

He Went to Saint Francois-Xavier catholic elementary school in Port-Novo (Benin), and attended the reputable “Lycée Béhanzin” high school of Porto-Novo where he obtained his high-school diploma. He then obtained a Master degree in Mathematics from Benin University (in Togo) and a DES (Post Master degree) in applied geology from Bordeaux University 1 (in France) in 1978. In 1981, he obtained, from the same University a Ph.D. in applied geology with option geophysics. He then went to work as a full-time teacher in Cote-d’Ivoire (Lycée d’Adzopé) from 1981 to 1984. In September 1984, he decided to come to New-York City at Columbia University to study American language (English) and Computer Science. After a year at Colombia University where the tuition were too high for his pocket he went to Brooklyn College (City University of New York) where he graduated in 1988 with a Master degree in Computer Science. He then continued his graduate studies (while teaching in various high schools in New York City) at the Graduate School and University Center of the City University of New York where he graduated in June 1985 with a Ph.D. in Computer Science. He is currently an adjunct assistant professor at Lehman College (department of Mathematics and Computer science), the mathematics coordinator for the Step Program at Purchase College (State University of New York), and a full time mathematics teacher at Lincoln High School in Yonkers. He is a consultant for the New York State Education Department for the writing and the review of mathematics items for various New York Regents Examinations. He is an active member of the Harlem community in New York City and also the President of the Beninese Alliance of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
